On March 10, James Durst a distinguished Folk solo singer/songwriter performed at the American Corner Beersheva for an audience of 100 students from both Jewish and Arab schools in the South. The program included American classics, and Durst succeeded in engaging the audience in some singalongs. Durst delighted the crowd by singing in Arabic and Hebrew. Eventhough this was the first time the audience had been exposed to folk music they expressed an interest in learning more about American music and requested more musical performances in the future.
